Meemic volunteers were on hand as dozens of students, mostly from junior high and high school, learned about various careers at Utica Community Schools’ annual Career Expo. The volunteers discussed the diversity of careers available in the insurance industry, including agent, human resources, claims, software development, marketing, customer service, project management and more. Meemic employees visit several career fairs throughout the year.
Our agents often like to drop in at schools with donuts or cakes or other care packages, but Teacher Appreciation Week really gets them wearing out their shoe leather. For example, the Williams Insurance Agency in Monroe, MI, created care packages filled with lots of goodies.

Forty-eight bowlers, family members and friends converged on Classic Lanes in Rochester Hills, MI, to raise money for The Meemic Foundation’s Needy Schools Project to purchase supplies for a Michigan school in need. Thank you to all the participants and to Classic Lanes for hosting. A similar fundraiser was held in Illinois.
Meemic had some special guests! Kids were our invited guests to help us learn about what animation styles are preferred at their age. (This one might not have been the most popular.) This will help Meemic with ideas we’re developing to support teachers in the classroom.
Four members of the Meemic Riders (Chris, Tammy, Holly and Lisa) took part (along with our friends at AAA, the ACG Riderz) in the fifth annual Ride 4 Recovery. The event celebrates recovery, supports the individuals and families suffering and recovering from addiction, and raises awareness of the behavioral health and substance use disorders that affect our communities.
At this Meemic Foundation Workshop featuring Jerzy Drozd, teachers learned exercises they can use with their students to teach literacy fundamentals through creating comics in a wide variety of subjects, from English and social studies to music and world languages.
